On Ola Tunji, Ola Tunji channel a luminous strain of spiritual and free jazz: collective meditations where Ornella Nouletโs fierce, tender saxophone rides a young quintetโs searching interplay toward something like secular devotion. Ola Tunji introduces a young French quintet, now rooted in Brussels, who treat spiritual and free jazz not as museum pieces but as living, breathing practices. Performing under the same name as their debut, Ola Tunji draw explicitly on lineages traced by John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Albert Ayler, yet their music feels less like homage than continuation. At the centre stands 24โyearโold Ornella Noulet on saxophones, whose sound can sear or soothe, splitting the air with grainy cries one moment and tracing supple, hymnโlike lines the next. Her phrasing carries the authority of a much older player, but the groupโs dynamic makes clear that this is a collective endeavour: each piece is a conversation, not a vehicle for solo display. The ensemble around her amplifies and complicates that vision. Roman Raynaudโs guitar moves between haloed chords, wiry singleโnote patterns and restrained distortion, shading the music from prayerful to urgent in a few strokes. At the piano, Loรฏc Lengagne supplies both harmonic ground and splintered commentary, alternating spacious, modal voicings with clustered runs that tug the improvisations into new shapes. Anthony Jouravskyโs bass acts as the musicโs deep spine, sometimes walking or vamping with earthy swing, sometimes holding long tones that turn the bandโs meditations into slowโmoving tides. Behind them, Egon Wolfsonโs drums pivot fluidly from incantatory rolls and cymbal washes to fractured, freeโtime exhortations, keeping the energy in constant, breathing motion. The band describe their pieces as โcollective meditations,โ and that ethos runs through the EP. Themes tend to emerge slowly, as if discovered rather than imposed, before opening into broad fields of improvisation where love, compassion, joy and serenity are less stated than enacted in sound. The quintet search together for a deeper sense of humanity, trusting that sustained listening and risk in the moment can summon something larger than any individual. Even at their most turbulent, there is a core of warmth and intention that anchors the music, a sense that the goal is not virtuoso display but shared elevation. Originally issued as a selfโreleased digital EP on Bandcamp, Ola Tunji quickly travelled far beyond its modest origins. International listeners tuned in to the groupโs intensity and sincerity, with platforms such as All About Jazz praising the recording for its freshness and emotional clarity, while Bandcamp itself spotlighted it as a jazz highlight. What might have remained a local calling card instead became an underground wordโofโmouth success, signalling the arrival of a band ready to step onto a larger stage. As the quintet prepare their first fullโlength album, W.E.R.F. records now grants this remarkable debut its first vinyl pressing, giving these collective meditations the tangible weight they deserve and inviting a wider audience into their circle of sound.

Glass Beams have announced their highly anticipated EP ‘Mahal’, out on March 22nd on their new label home Ninja Tune. Released alongside the news is the EP’s titular track “Mahal”.
The genesis for the Melbourne-based trio, which formed around founding member Rajan Silva, was through the rekindling of childhood memories relating to his father, who emigrated to Melbourne from India in the late 1970's. Silva recalled watching a DVD on repeat with his father; ‘Concert for George’, a star-studded tribute to late Beatles member George Harrison performed at London's Royal Albert Hall in 2002, featuring legendary Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar with daughter Anoushka, alongside Western icons Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and ELO’s Jeff Lynne. This intersection of musical styles was reflected in the record collection of Silva's father, where the sounds of iconic Bollywood vocalists Asha Bhosle and the Mangeshkar lineage sat alongside music from blues legends like B.B. King and Muddy Waters. In particular, Silva was drawn to the fusion of Western musical styles and traditional Indian music; a concept pioneered by Indian artists like R.D. Burman, Ananda Shankar, and fraternal duo Kalyanji-Anandji.
This cross-pollination of East and West, of old and new, is a sentiment that the band have sought to capture in their self produced works. Across their output, Glass Beams presents a timeless fusion of cultures and sounds beamed through a prism of live instrumentation and DIY electronica, all wrapped up inside a mesmerizing and mystical visual world of their own making.
Their debut EP ‘Mirage’, released in 2021 catapulted them into the collective consciousness of new followers who came to discover their serpentine, psychedelic-tinged tracks through social media, streaming services and word of mouth, with the vinyl copies selling-out as quickly as it could be pressed via grassroots record store support.
In the wake of the unexpected success of their debut release and an abundance of festival invitations, Glass Beams were amplified around the globe performing hypnotic renditions of the 'Mirage' EP alongside an additional 20 minutes of unreleased music. Early clips of these “unreleased tracks” quickly began circulating online garnering millions of views and a fast-growing and ever-hungry following. As 2023 drew to a close and the dust settled after a whirlwind of touring, Glass Beams retreated to their home studio to record this much anticipated 20 minutes of music. They have named the record 'Mahal'.

Hindi filmโs greatest soundtrackers meld cool, swinging jazz and ancient raga tradition in this 1968 wonder, reissued on vinyl for the first time in 2017. โRaga Jazz Styleโ speaks brilliantly to a transcontinental fusion of styles seeded in the US with John & Alice Coltraneโs visionary efforts, and here adapted back to source in the subcontinent. By this point the Shankar Jaikashan duo had practically achieved their zenith as go-to composers for Hindi film scores, and as competition started coming from likes of R.D. Burman, they would prove their versatility in melding Afro-American jazz with millennia-old raga forms, resulting this vibrant suite that nails both styles, sometimes on their own, and sometimes combined with sitar. Itโs rare pleasure to hear them dance between the two, only a few years before Jaikashan passed away, leaving Shanka to continue solo under the Shankar-Jaikashan handle, and a richly inspirational legacy.

Strut proudly presents a new edition of one of Sun Ra's most celebrated albums, Sleeping Beauty, reissued in its original artwork for the first time. Originally released in 1979 on his independent Saturn label, Sleeping Beauty captures Sun Ra and his Arkestra at their most soulful and serene. A masterclass in cosmic jazz, the album blends lush grooves, celestial soul, and meditative funk with Raโs singular spiritual vision โ a sound both grounded and otherworldly. The album emerged during an extraordinarily fertile period for Sun Ra in late-โ70s New York. Between 1978 and 1982, Ra โoccupiedโ Variety Recording Studios on West 42nd Street, often staging marathon sessions following late-night Arkestra gigs around the city โ from the Village Vanguard to Sweet Basil and even a wedding in Central Park. These were not just recordings; they were rituals. Ra and his core players โ John Gilmore, Marshall Allen, June Tyson, Michael Ray, and others โ would begin sessions mid-morning, often continuing past midnight, much to the dismay of the studio owner. Out of this creative whirlwind came some of his most enduring work, including A Fireside Chat With Lucifer, On Jupiter, and Sleeping Beauty. Across its three tracks, Sleeping Beauty showcases the Arkestraโs gentler side. From the dreamy sway of โSpringtime Againโ to the funk-deep uplift of โDoor Of The Cosmosโ and the title trackโs meditative drift, this is music that floats, beckons, and unfolds. Itโs a record of hypnotic beauty and quiet power โ cosmic jazz for dreamers and seekers alike. This new edition features a selected version of the hand-drawn original cover, embossed with the Sun Ra logo and housed in a heavyweight card sleeve. Liner notes come courtesy of Arkestra member Knoel Scott and Sun Ra authority Paul Griffiths. Remastered by Technology Works. โMusic is a language. You see, itโs not notes โ itโs a language of the spirit. Thatโs why itโs so important.โ โ Sun Ra

Matthew Herbert and drummer/ vocalist Momoko Gill announce the release of new album Clay via Strut in June 2025. A soulful, elastic collaboration, Clay treads nimbly between the dancefloor and the more introspective moods of the early hours, both reminiscent of Herbertโs iconic album Around The House while taking off in a compelling new direction. Agile and open-hearted, Clay is a thrilling, sonically adventurous record from two of the UKโs most forward-thinking artists.
Orbiting around Herbertโs fleet-footed productions and the ingenuity of Momoko Gillโs dexterous, melodic writing, Clay is at once stripped-back and rhythmically complex, drawing on a variety of found sources - from japanese kotos to basketballs - to give the sound an unmistakably organic feel.
Bringing together original sampling techniques, live improvisation and lush, expansive arrangements, Clay is lifted into higher realms by Momoko Gillโs intimate vocal performance, soaring wide-winged across the albumโs eleven tracks, whether on the euphoric melancholia of โMowingโ or the emotive duet โHeartโ.
Clay follows the 2024 release of debut collaboration โFallenโ and Momoko Gillโs remix of Matthew Herbertโs โThe Horse Is Hereโ. And yet, although Clay marks the first full-length release between Herbert and Gill, the duoโs shared passion for pushing sonic boundaries has played a crucial role in their respective careers to date.
For Herbert that means treating the world as an instrument, making music using everything from the sounds of a bomb exploding in Libya, a horse skeleton, a tank driving over a meal made for Tony Blair, 20,000 dogs, 245 shops and countless other noises. His album ONE PIG โ which follows the lifecycle of a pig from birth to plate โ remains one of the most ambitious and provocative pieces of electronic music this century, cementing his reputation as an utterly singular composer, artist and producer.
Self-taught in drums and composition, Momoko Gillโs journey to Clay has been similarly experimental โ cutting her teeth in South Londonโs multi-disciplinary music scene, embracing new challenges and collaborating with the likes of Coby Sey, Tirzah and Alabaster DePlume. Although drums and vocals are her mediums of choice, Gillโs multi-instrumental talents were on full show on 2024โs EP as An Alien Called Harmony with poet/rapper Nadeem Din-Gabisi, and she continues to hone her style in the frictions between genres.
With an intuitive feel for one anotherโs sound, Clay is a meeting of musical minds that resonates far beyond the sum of its parts - a startlingly fresh, beautifully conceived record from two artists who sound like theyโve been playing together all their lives.

An electrified meeting of minds, Candy Girl is a lost 1975 session by jazz pianist Mal Waldron, recorded in Paris with core members of the mighty Lafayette Afro Rock Band, the American funk unit who had made France their home and whose deep grooves would later be mined by generations of hip-hop producers.
By 1975, Waldron was a decade into his self-imposed exile from the United Statesโa transformed musician who had reassembled his sound in Europe and Japan after a devastating breakdown in the early '60s. His post-1969 output had stripped jazz down to its core elements: modal intensity, locked grooves, and hypnotic repetition. Candy Girl doesnโt interrupt this trajectoryโit extends it, wrapping Waldronโs minimalist mantras around the funked-up chassis of the Lafayette rhythm section.
Originally released in microscopic quantities on the Calumet label and long shrouded in obscurity, Candy Girl was recorded spontaneously in the studio of French producer Pierre Jaubert, whose Paris HQ had become the workshop for both avant-garde jazz (Archie Shepp, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Steve Lacy) and psychedelic funk (Lafayette Afro Rock Band AKA Ice). This session finds Waldron jamming freely with bassist Lafayette Hudson, drummer Donny Donable, and keyboardist Frank Abel on clavinet, Moog and moreโlaying down raw, unfiltered instrumental funk with an experimental edge.
Highlights include the low-slung vamp of โHome Againโ, the crisp, break-laden groove of โRed Match Boxโ, and the mesmeric swirl of the title track โCandy Girlโโa minor-key electric piano waltz with hints of cosmic soul. There's even a deep cut for the crate diggers: the somber yet meditative โDedication to Brahmsโ, where Waldron deconstructs the Romantic composerโs third symphony into a sparse jazz reverie.
Unlike his polished sessions for Japanese labels or the avant-garde swing of his earlier Prestige work, Candy Girl feels more spontaneous, even accidental โ and thatโs part of its power. Itโs a document of Waldron as bandleader, collaborator, and explorer, captured in the midst of a vibrant, cross-cultural scene in mid-70s Paris. Never officially issued with a cover and barely released at all, Candy Girl is a rare convergence of two underground traditions: Waldronโs Euro-exile electric jazz and the raw, sampled-future funk of the Lafayette Afro Rock Band. Now finally resurfaced, it deserves its rightful place in both stories.
This official edition features audio remastered by The Carvery, new liner notes by Francis Gooding, and packaging that pays tribute to the obscure original release, complete with replica Calumet label artwork. For years it lived in the shadows; now Candy Girl finally steps into the light โ a vital rediscovery from one of jazzโs most distinctive voices.
The third in Strut’s Inspiration Information studio collaboration series brings together an intriguing pairing between one of Africa’s great bandleaders, Mulatu Astatke, with the next level musicianship of The Heliocentrics collective from the mighty roster of Stones Throw / Now Again.
Known primarily through the successful ‘Ethiopiques’ album series and the film soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Broken Flowers’, Mulatu Astatke is one of Ethiopia’s foremost musical ambassadors. Informed by spells living and studying in the UK and the USA, his self-styled Ethio-jazz sound flourished during the “Swinging Addis” era of the late ‘60s as he successfully fused Western jazz and funk with traditional Ethiopian folk melodies, five tone scale arrangements and elements from music of the ancient Coptic church.
The Heliocentrics have become known as one of the UK’s foremost free-thinking collectives of musicians, inspired by a wide palette covering Sun Ra, James Brown, David Axelrod and all manner of psych, Afro and Eastern sounds. Now a fixture within the Stones Throw / Now Again roster, they forged their own genre-breaking directions in the astral analogue groove on their 2007 debut album, ‘Out There’.
“ It’s like going back to the feel of the ‘60s, it really feels like that,” explains Mulatu. “There’s a new composition, ‘Cha Cha’, and ‘Dewel’, heavily influenced by an Ethiopian Coptic Church composer called Yard. The band took it and added what they feel. It’s a nice experiment.”

Award-winning composer and producer Sarathy Korwar to release new album celebrating the melodic power of the drum ensemble Sarathy Korwar, genre-breaking drummer, producer and composer, announces the release of his seventh album, There Is Beauty, There Already, out on Otherland on 7th November 2025. Celebrating the melodic power of the drum ensemble, the album follows his 2022 Indofuturist manifesto KALAK with a deeply immersive longform suite of percussion-led compositions. Playing as a 40-minute suite of hypnotic and transcendent drum improvisations, the album beats through a repetitive, circular structure that brings to mind Indian folk music, jazz drum ensembles like Max Roachโs MโBoom and the contemporary classical minimalism of Terry Riley and Steve Reich. From the undulating bass tones of the tabla to the tonal varieties of South Indian clay pot ghatam, the snare drum snap of the drum kit, and shades of electronic texture through the Buchla Easel, Korwarโs ensemble bubbles and flows through a stream of steady rhythm, forever in motion like the ceaseless energy of a river.
โThe album is me finding my voice as a composer again and going back to the thing I know best, which is the drums,โ Korwar says. โItโs me falling back in love with percussion and expressing just how melodic and emotive it can be. Unlike my other albums that have often engaged with weighty themes like migration, identity and futurism, this is a raw act of placing myself front and centre โ letting the drums speak instead.โ
Written and recorded over four days at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios, Korwar is joined by drummers Photay, Magnus Mehta, and Joost Hendrickx. Setting up an array of drums in the live room โ from drum kit to tabla, marimba, balafon, udu and ghatam โ Korwar gave himself and his instrumentalists free reign to flow through and play whatever complimented their ever-developing music, while triggered attachments to synthesisers and the Buchla Easel added unexpected elements of electronic texture. "By day three, we realised that we kept coming back to this single, repeated 40-minute pattern, which was locking us in and making us hypnotised by its rhythm," Korwar says. "I decided to do multiple takes of that idea to build a structure โ and thatโs what you ultimately hear on the record." A riposte to our flitting attention spans, the album is designed to be played from start to finish as a singular, longform suite of music, evoking a constant sense of motion and intent. Drawing on the idea of repetition to the point of going beyond monotony and into the unknown โ like a word repeated so many times it loses meaning โ the record becomes a remarkable exploration of rhythm as trance and transformation. Exploding onto the international jazz scene with his 2016 Ninja Tune debut Day to Day, Korwar has released four albums exploring everything from the folk music of the Indian Sidi community to hip-hop, electronics, contemporary jazz and Indian classical music. He won the 2020 AIM Award for Best Independent Album and MOJOโs Jazz Album of the Year for 2019โs spoken word-influenced More Arriving, as well as being nominated at the Jazz FM and Worldwide Awards and in 2023 won the Songlines Award for Best Album (Asia/Pacific) with KALAK.
As a musician and producer, meanwhile, he has collaborated with Shabaka Hutchings and producer Hieroglyphic Being on 2017โs A.R.E. Project, as well as releasing a collaborative album with Auntie Flo in 2022, and forming jazz supergroup FLOCK with Bex Burch, Tamar Osborn, Danalogue and Al MacSween. He is also currently a member of sitarist Anoushka Shankarโs band and produced and co-wrote her 2025 album, Chapter III: Return to Light. Almost a decade on from his debut, There Is Beauty, There Already sees Korwar producing some of his most personal and vulnerable work to date. From the album cover โ a grid of self-portraits taken at his local Co-Op checkout over the past five years, โa ritual story of my life in imagesโ โ to an accompanying, self-written poem reflecting on beauty, the record marks a new direction. It also signals the launch of Korwarโs own label, Otherland. โItโs a home for my own future music and music from others that doesnโt tick many boxes โ that doesnโt have a motherland or fatherland of its own," he says. "Itโs about embracing this music as it is, finding the beauty in it and recognising it, just as the album title says." The album will launch with an exclusive show at The ICA on 15 November 2025 as part of the London Jazz Festival, where Korwar will expand his ensemble to a dozen drummers, guiding live improvisations through the recordโs percussive textures from start to finish. There Is Beauty, There Already is released on Otherland on 7th November 2025, distributed worldwide by !K7.

Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitanandaโs devotion to spirituality was the central purpose of the final four decades of her life, an often-overlooked awakening that largely took shape during her four-year marriage to John Coltrane and after his 1967 death. By 1983, Alice had established the 48-acre Sai Anantam Ashram outside of Los Angeles. She quietly began recording music from the ashram, releasing it within her spiritual community in the form of private press cassette tapes. On May 5, Luaka Bop will release the first-ever compilation of recordings from this period, making these songs available to the wider public for the first time. Entitled โWorld Spirituality Classics, Volume 1: The Ecstatic Music of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda,โ the release is the first installment in a planned series of spiritual music from around the globe; curated, compiled and distributed by Luaka Bop.
This powerful, largely unheard body of work finds Alice singing for the first time in her recorded catalog, which dates back to 1963 and includes appearances on six John Coltrane albums, alongside Charlie Haden and McCoy Tyner, and 14 albums as bandleader starting with her Impulse! debut in 1967 with โA Monastic Trio.โ The songs featured on the Luaka Bop release have been culled from the four cassettes that Alice recorded and released between 1982 and 1995: โTuriya Sings,โ โDivine Songs,โ โInfinite Chants,โ and โGlorious Chants.โ The digital, cassette and CD release will feature eight songs. The double-vinyl edition features two additional songs, โKrishna Japayeโ from 1990โs โInfinite Chants, and the previously unreleased โRama Kathaโ from a separate โTuriya Singsโ recording session.
Luaka Bop teamed with Aliceโs children to find the original master tapes in the Coltrane archive. The recordings were prepared for re-mastering by the legendary engineer Baker Bigsby (Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, John Coltrane), who had overseen the original sessions in the 80s and 90s. The compilation showcases a diverse array of recordings in addition to Aliceโs first vocal work: solo performances on her harp, small ensembles, and a 24-piece vocal choir. The release is dotted with eastern percussion, synthesizers, organs and strings, making for a mesmerizing, even otherworldly, listen. Alice was inspired by Vedic devotional songs from India and Nepal, adding her own music sensibility to the mix with original melodies and sophisticated song structures. She never lost her ability to draw from the bebop, blues and old-time spirituals of her Detroit youth, fusing a Western upbringing with Eastern classicism. In all, these recordings amount to a largely untold chapter in the life story of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda.
In addition to the recordings, GRAMMY-winning music historian Ashley Kahn has written extensive liner notes on the collection. The package also includes a series of interviews with those who knew Alice best, conducted by Dublabโs Mark โFrostyโ McNeill, and an as-told-to interview between musician Surya Botofasina (who was raised on Aliceโs ashram) and journalist Andy Beta. 2017 marks what would have been Aliceโs 80th year of life, as well as the 10th anniversary of her passing. Alice will be celebrated at events throughout the United States, Europe and South America in the coming year. With this in mind, the time is right to bring this meaningful piece of Turiyasangitanandaโs legacy into focus.

Pharoah Sanders' Impulse! swan-song is one of the most transcendent jazz recordings of all time, a plugged-in, high-minded evocation that shares musical DNA with Alice Coltrane's masterpiece 'Journey in Satchidananda' - this new "Verve Vault" edition has been remastered from the original analog tapes and sounds insane. Best known for his early records like 'Tauhid' and 'Karma', spiritual jazz milestones that showed Sanders' continuity from his time working alongside John Coltrane, Sanders kept on innovating until his death in 2022. But the period that fascinates us the most is in the early '70s, when he integrated African, Latin and Native American sounds on the startling 'Black Unity', recorded 'Journey in Satchidananda' with Alice Coltrane and closed out his epic Impulse! run with 'Elevation'. And it's this (mostly) live recording, captured in two blistering sessions at the Ash Grove in Los Angeles and fleshed out with the sedate, palate cleansing studio jam 'Greeting to Saud', that seems to broadcast the unstoppable energy of this period best. The title track alone, a side-long mantra that fills out the field with clouds of percussion from Lawrence Killian, Jimmy Hopps, Michael Carvin, Joe Bonner and Sanders himself. Even Bonner's jabs on the piano feel like percussive notes and aside from those sounds (and Calvin Hill's rhythmic bass twangs), it's left to Sanders to do the heavy lifting with his lyrical performance, slurring in fluttered post-bop cadences before overblowing over the explosive, double-time crescendo that eventually dissolves into a choir of bells and chimes. And that's not nearly the best thing here, either. 'Elevation' is essential because it contains the open-hearted, free-flowing masterpiece 'The Gathering', a live staple at the time that brims with energy, from its sing-along vocals to its earworm-y piano hooks.
Vibe Ride is the sixth release of Adam Rudolph's Hu Vibrational project and marks his 60th release as a leader or co-leader.
โWith every record, the goal is to explore new creative territory,โ explains Rudolph. Vibe Ride continues a deeper exploration of a trance-like groove and a conceptual framework known as Sonic Mandala. This album marks the most complete realization of that idea, partly due to the group's experience touring beforehand. That time on the road helped to refine ideas and strengthen musical chemistry. The recording process unfolded organicallyโlikely due to the long-standing collaboration within ensembles like Go: Organic Orchestra and Moving Pictures, where the musicians have developed a deep familiarity with the shared musical language.
Sonic Mandala refers to a musical approach distinct from traditional linear structures of theme and development. Found in cultures across the globe, it may represent one of the oldest forms of musical expressionโpredating written history by tens of thousands of years. Today, it is most vividly preserved in the music of the Ituri Forest peoples (Aka, Baka, Ba Benzele, Mbuti), whose sound traditions revolve in cyclical, orbit-like patterns. Vibe Ride seeks to bring that ancient sense of circularity into a contemporaryโand perhaps even futuristicโcontext.
The ensemble of Vibe RideโAlexis Marcelo, Jerome Harris, Harris Eisenstadt, Neel Murgai, Tim Kieper, and Tripp Dudleyโbrings exceptional creativity and skill to the project. While grounded in the sonic languages of today, their performance channels an ancient vibrational lineage, connecting with ancestral sound makers who were attuned to the rhythms of the sun, moon, stars, and seasons. Human beings have always been deeply responsive to natural cycles.
Like a mandala, where the circle reveals itself as a spiralโalways returning, but never to the exact same pointโthe Sonic Mandala musical experience spirals through motion. Refined signal patterns emerge through overtone-rich instrumentation. The groove becomes a threshold, shifting the listener from passive observation into active, even transcendent, participation. With open ears and an open mind, the sound spirals inwardโtoward a primal centerโand outward into the cosmos. When this elevated state is shared among participants, it creates what mystics describe as resonance.
Vibe Ride thrives on the distinctive sonic voices of its players, interwoven with care and nuance into the compositions. Hu Vibrational merges elements of world music, electronica, and improvised jazz into something both funky and spiritual, intense and soothing.
Using signature techniques of organic orchestration, layered arrangement, and electronic processing, the compositions are sculpted from percussion, electronics, and ethereal textures. Rhythmic foundations drawn from diverse traditions serve not as endpoints, but as building blocks. As the saying goes, โOrchestration is the key.โ In shaping the sound, the aim was to discover fresh ways of balancing structure and sonic color. As Don Cherry once said: โThe swing is in the sound.โ
reissue of this impossible to find LP, 52 years after the Original !

Emeralds, the sophomore long player from Parlor Greens, finds the trio serving up a beautifully curated sampler of what funky organ music can be. On Parlor Greensโ debut LP In Green We Dream, they announced their existence boldly to the welcoming arms of funky instrumental fans around the world. Now, two years later, theyโre back to up the ante. Three true masters of their respective crafts: Tim Carman (Canyon Lights, formerly of GA-20) on drums, Jimmy James (True Loves) on guitar, and Adam Scone (Scone Cash Players, The Sugarman 3) on organ. Seasoned and soulful pros coming together to make infectiously funky instrumental jams.
Parlor Greens are truly in top form: tour tight and more confident than ever in who they are and where theyโre going. The albumโs opener, โEat Your Greens,โ kicks the doors off with a Charles Earland-inspired four on the floor beat, with Jimmy and Scone driving the tune down the tracks like an overloaded freight train, it simply cannot be stopped. On โRed Dog,โ the group channels the absolute heaviest shade of early R&B with Jimmyโs crunchy guitar paving the way for both he and Scone to take scorching solos. โLionโs Maneโ shows a slightly more sophisticated side of the trio, with nods to one of Sconeโs organ mentors, the incomparable Dr. Lonnie Smith. Not to be outdone by his bandmates, Tim Carman shows off why he plays the best shuffle this side of the Mississippi on โLetter To Brother Ben,โ a gospel-tinged shuffler.
And while the results are stronger than ever, the mood of this second cooking session was much different. The first time these three met in Loveland at Colemineโs Portage Lounge studio was marked by a certain freshness. It was new, it was the first time they had all played together. It was exciting, it was unknown territory. The session for Emeralds weighed much heavier on all three members. All three dealing with personal tragedies in their individual lives, the session truly served as a genuine moment of joy for the group. Just three talented musicians, writing and playing music now as friends in a familiar environment. No moment is the weight of the session more obvious than with the albumโs closer, โQueen Of My Heart,โ a tune Jimmy wrote for his mother shortly after she passed away.
So with a heavy and soulful heart, Colemine Records is beyond proud to present the sophomore effort from three maestros. Parlor Greens presentsโฆEmer

This Record Store Day 2026, Strut proudly presents Nuclear War, a powerful collaboration between UK collective The Heliocentrics, Sun Ra Arkestra legends Marshall Allen and Knoel Scott, and vocalist Bilal - issued on limited-edition โhazardousโ orange and yellow vinyl.
The Nuclear War recordings stem from a rare session at Malcolm Cattoโs Quatermass Sound Lab in January 2015. The group had assembled in London to rehearse for their performance at Gilles Petersonโs Worldwide Awards, where Allen received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Catto the John Peel Award. With The Heliocentricsโ trademark raw, psychedelic energy as the backbone, the ensemble captured a series of reimagined Sun Ra classics in a spontaneous, one-off studio moment, and these tapes that have remained unheard in Cattoโs archive until now.
The 4-track EP features a sinuous take on Ronnie Boykinsโ โAngels And Demons At Playโ , originally recorded in 1960, a strident version of โWhere Pathways Meetโ which was originally created for the much- loved Sun Ra Lanquidity album in 1978, and a dense and deep re- work of 1972โs โAstro Blackโ featuring Bilalโs incredible otherworldly vocals. The title track โNuclear Warโ is re-worked into a cavernous groove featuring Heliocentrics vocalist Barbora Patkova.
'Dear Children of Our Children, I Knew: Epilogue' is a new EP by Alabaster DePlume, recorded during the middle of his March 2025 US tour. DePlume had been playing shows with bassist Shahzad Ismaily and drummer Tcheser Holmes, performing music from his critically acclaimed album 'A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole' (released March 2025). The trioโs onstage rapport was so immediate and strong that, on an off day in Brooklyn, DePlume chose to capture that connection, recording this collection of instrumental pieces shaped by the experience of performing, sharing, and improvising off the music of A Blade for audiences across the US.
DePlume says: โMeeting with you all at the shows I sensed that you felt voiceless, on this ethical issue that also spelled out what weโre seeing today, in the form of ICE. That experience with you is etched into me, like graffiti or a poster on the wall. Itโs my job to deliver your voice, and thatโs what this record is. And to take action. That urgency compelled me to record then. And now here we are. As we said, this world is awakening to the reality it was already living.โ
Dear Children serves as an epilogue to A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole, and as a companion bookend with his October 2024 EP 'Cremisan: Prologue to A Blade'.
As with almost everything that DePlume has put forth in recent years, the connection of all these works to Palestine is deep. The Cremisan EP itself was recorded in Palestine. Dear Children incorporates field recordings and samples of children playing and of normal life in the West Bank, and its cover art depicts wheatpaste posters of a drawing made by a 13-year-old boy from Gaza (used with permission). The inscription on the cover art says, in Arabic, โDedicated to the mother of the martyr/witness Obaida Ahmed al-Qiram. May you rest in peace. From your student, the artist, Hasan Jawad Abudayyeh.โ

dj echotree arrives on ZitStill with a singular artefact shaped by excavation and instinct. Built from fragments of found footage, spoken word and drifting jazz, the record unfolds as a seamless collage โ guided by the steady pulse of the MPC and a commitment to human touch over polish. Emerging from noisy experiments and captured in a single twenty-four-hour immersion, the album carries the scent of spiritual jazz in the lineage of Sun Ra, grounded in lo-fi textures and presence. What remains is the lone preserved take: raw, immediate, and uncorrected. Pressed on one side only, the reverse is left blank save for a handwritten note from the artist โ an intentional space that frames absence as part of the work. The sleeve artwork, assembled from roadside magazine cutouts, quietly reconfigures discarded images into something tactile and open-ended. This is less a product than an offering: a textured, gapless transmission best absorbed whole.
For over five decades, Gary Marks, American singer, producer, pianist, and guitarist has written songs about politics, freedom and self awareness. The Gathering, his masterpiece album from 1974, was a folk and jazz mixture often compared to Tim Buckley. Lantern Heights Records has dedicated itself to putting together an album of Marks's most musically masterful, lyrically powerful works from the 1970s to the present - with international guest artists such as John Scofield and Chris McCandless. Brilliant cover work of art by Dario Campanile, internationally acclaimed Master Painter and creator of the Paramount logo.
