Trinidad born legendary guitarist, Lynn Taitt, who brought the first wave of Rocksteady to the Island, and Gladdy Anderson who is well known for a Skatalites' pianist, they both got together to record this Rocksteady instrumental album 'Glad Sounds' at Federal Studio in 1968. Released from the Merritone label, which was managed under the Federal. The album depicts the hay day and best sound of Rocksteady as well as label itself. First time to be reissued by Dub Store Records. The forth reissue of the Story Of Federal program by Dub Store Records. The original UK issue was released on the Big Shot label with a different jacket design. Album tracks consist mainly of cover versions of popular tracks, which were produced by Coxsone Dodd, Bunny Lee and Sonia Pottinger. Lynn Taitt and Gladstone Anderson added gentle flavors to their versions by their distinctive instrumental plays. Also Federal's recording facility made possible to maintain this sound quality. Originally released in 1978 on High Note, Dub Expression is a classic dub album recorded at Duke Reid’s famed Treasure Isle studio by his nephew, engineer Errol Brown. Working with the mighty studio band The Revolutionaries, Brown delivered dubbed-out takes on rhythms originally crafted for Marcia Griffiths, John Holt, Dennis Brown and more. Anchored by Lowell “Sly” Dunbar’s propulsive drums, The Revolutionaries channel the turbulent spirit of late-’70s Jamaica with militant precision. Though their line-up was ever-shifting, overlapping with other legendary session crews like The Professionals and The Aggrovators, The Revolutionaries were best known as the house band for Channel One during dub’s golden age. The decision to release the album under the band’s name—rather than crediting individual vocalists—was made by pioneering producer Sonia Pottinger, recognising the commercial power and creative force of the group itself. Ernest Ranglin is a guitar player who represents Jamaica as well as one of the forefront personals who took Jamaican music to the world. As an arranger and a musical director, he contributed with his talent in the development of Jamaican music, including Ska and Reggae, from the origins. Musicians who have started their career at the time, still look up to him as a mentor and pay their respects. The internationally acclaimed guitarist Ernest Ranglin is currently pursuing his career without any musical boundaries at the age of over 80.

Treasurable 1st reissue of a 1982 roots reggae rarity, one of the only cuts by cousins Freddie & Dessie, and starring Beres Hammond in full fat remaster and new cut, thanks to the ceaseless search of Shella Records, who finally sourced a mint copy in Brazil.

"“Me Look Like A Lion But Me Humble Like A Man” Fredrick Dookie & Desmond Silpatt were cousins and close friends who, though not prolific, created one stunning reggae tune which has been near impossible to find for over 40 years.

Like artists from Supercat to Sheila Rickards, Freddie & Dessie are of Indo-Jamaican descent. They gravitated to music from an early age.

Recorded at Aquarius and arranged by Wire Lindo, the track features back up vocals from a young Beres Hammond.

"I have loved this song for a very long time and this exclusive reissue has been in the works for several years since I tracked down one half of the duo Dessie aka Desmond Silpatt who is now based in Florida." says Chris from Shella Records.

Freddie, who provides the song’s hypnotic vocal, was a devout Rasta man who sadly passed away in 2019. He is survived by Dessie, a renaissance man, inventor and author who has penned thousands of songs in his time."

The Heptones are without doubt one of Jamaica’s finest vocal groups. Emerging in the 60s at Studio One, they became a landmark for reggae harmonies. This 1978 album, produced by Winston ‘Niney the Observer’ Holness, features top musicians including George Fullwood, Sly Dunbar, Ansel Collins, Tony Chin, and Eric ‘Bingy Bunny’ Lamont. Recorded at Channel One and mixed at Harry J Studios by Sylvan Morris, it remains a stone-cold classic, true to its roots.

Historically considered as some kind of bridge between Ska and Reggae, Rock Steady is certainly one of the most influential music genres in Jamaican history. Originally released in 1968 this is an amazing compilation showcasing the cream of the genre. Some sort of Jamaican Sweet Soul Music Manifesto featuring an incredible array of groups and singers such as The Wailers, The Clarendonians, Justin Hines, Bob & Andy, Ken Boothe, The Gaylads, Pat Kelly and others.

Ambient Warrior return with Warrior Voices, the long anticipated vocal companion to their mid 1990s cult project Dub Journey’s, reissued by Isle of Jura in 2021.

Recorded between 1993 and 1995 by producer Ronnie Lion with multi-instrumentalist Andreas Terrano, Dub Journey’s blended reggae, dub, ambient, latin, and jazz into timeless soundscapes that set it apart from the UK reggae scene. Warrior Voices completes this original vision, adding full vocal versions to the ambient dub foundations, while standing as a fully realised album in its own right.

The LP features a remarkable lineup of legendary reggae vocalists, including Roy Shirley, often called the “High Priest of Reggae” and a pioneering figure in rocksteady; the Twinkle Brothers, one of Jamaica’s longest standing roots reggae duo’s known for their spiritually conscious songs; Joseph Cotton, whose distinctive voice helped shape dancehall; and Ricky Ranking, celebrated for his collaborations with Roots Manuva. The album also includes the original 1995 7" vocal version of My Island I Will Never Forget by Greekie, a deeply moving song in Greek that reflects on Turkey’s 1974 occupation of northern Cyprus.

The set is rounded out by an unreleased track from the Ambient Warrior DAT archive, Marine Steppers, offering listeners a fresh perspective on the project nearly thirty years after it was first conceived.

With deep basslines, spacious production, and stirring vocal performances, Warrior Voices transforms the instrumental originals into fully realised songs, offering a fresh perspective and revealing new layers of emotional depth.
