Canadian composer Bruce Haack one of the true pioneers in the field of electronic and children's music. Originally released in 1962 "Dance, Sing & Listen" was Haack's debut album. Following instructions from children dance teacher Esther Nelson the album comes as a hyper-eclectic work based on a great variety of sound material. A hybrid soup of medieval, country, classical, and pop styles including tons of electronic effects, guitars, banjos and other acoustic string instruments and bongos!!! This is open minded music for children at its best.

South Africa is in fact the only country in the whole African continent that has developed a strong jazz tradition. Initially influenced by the great American stylists, (Ellington, Gillespie...) South Africa gradually developed its own soulful style based on a distinctive taste for melody and a deep sense of groove. Masterfully selected from the so-called "Golden Age" of the genre, (late '50s/ early '60s), this compilation represents the best introduction to the work of a large and varied body of musicians and composers who inevitably developed their music as part of the historical Anti-Apartheid struggle, and as means of self-expression in the dark times of exile. Kippie Moeketsi, Hugh Masekela (in The Jazz Epistles), Dollar Brand, Chris McGregor, Dudu Pukwana (in Chris McGregor & The Castle Lager Big Band), Mongesi Feza (in Chris McGregor & The Castle Lager Big Band), Barney Rabachan, Nick Moyake (in Chris McGregor & The Castle Lager Big Band), and of course the queen Miriam Makeba are just some of the main voices represented here. A bunch of true warriors. Also features John Mehegan, Dollar Brand Trio, and Gideon Nxumalo.

Reissue, originally released in 1963. Pianist and arranger João Donato was a major figure in the bossa nova movement. During his long career he recorded with many of the great names from both Brazilian and American Latin-jazz scene (Tom Jobim, Ron Carter, Airto Moreira, E. Deodato, Randy Brecker, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, and several others). First released in 1963, this is a marvelous example of bossa jazz album featuring the highly syncopated drums grooves of Milton Banana and Amaury Rodriguez's Afro-Cuban flavored bongos.

At the very beginning of the Sixties, almost every American Jazz musician in the business had to somehow express his attraction for the exotic yet challenging Brazilian sound of the day. Originally released in 1962 on Argo Records this is the album that shows Ramsey Lewis's trio embracing the light and infectious groove of Bossa Nova, a genre and a style in which Lewis's Pop sensibility fits perfectly. The trio, here and there augmented by Brazilian guests, shines throughout a well chosen track-list of songs from the likes of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfá plus a bunch of originals in the same vein.
