Clan Caiman - Pica-Pau (LP)Clan Caiman - Pica-Pau (LP)
Clan Caiman - Pica-Pau (LP)Em Records
¥3,300
Clan Caimán, led by composer Emilio Haro, is a group from Argentina, but their timeless, organic music transcends nationality. “Pica-Pau” (woodpecker), their third album, is their most abstract and minimal to date, but this is not a cold abstraction nor an austere minimalism; the music here, with its focus on rhythm and texture, is warm and hypnotic, seeming to have existed forever despite the fact that it was recorded in 2023-24. As on their previous albums, all with EM Records, the music is driven by the kalimabafon, Haro’s self-made tuned percussion instrument. The kalimbafon’s patterns weave through waves of reverb-drenched lap steel and guitar, as bass undertow and sans-cymbal percussion allow the music to flow inexorably forward, like a broad, timeless river. The compositions here have a feeling of being immersed in deep night, surrounded by life, away from the enclosed isolation of the urban environment. As with previous albums, the compositions are instrumental, the exception being the final song, a vocal version of the opening track, sung in a language invented by Haro.

The shocking COMPUMA (Koichi Matsunaga)'s first 12-inch !!! The problematic work of the endless computer original problematic work that reconstructed the problematic work "Haku no Ongaku"! It is no exaggeration to say that it is the most important must-listen work of Japanese underground dance music in 2015!

90s is Asteroid Desert Songs, 00s is Smurphotokogu, and in recent years, the first 12-inch impact of Koichi Matsunaga aka COMPUMA, a stubborn electro crew who admits himself and others with his musical connoisseurs who are dying in "Devil's Swamp". drop. Only computers can interact with "Haku's music" on an equal footing! I delusionally asked to rebuild the album. This is the work that came up! ?? !! The experimental result that the computer says, "It looks like an original work ...". However, in order to faint in agony and complete the original request, I decided to announce it under the name of Compuma meets Haku. An electro song with a non-trivial atmosphere that has a feeling of devotion from each note of snare, kick, hat, etc. 80s US Old School-Tasteable dance music that has blossomed suspiciously in the depths of Japan across the Atlantic Ocean from the 1960s!

¥2,750
Woman, liquor, agriculture, poverty ... The world's first debut of Dao Bandon, the "buffalo rider" who continued to sing the life of the northeastern part of Thailand while calling himself a countryman and performing indigenously! A unique view of the Luk Thung world cultivated in the harsh land of Isan is condensed into this one piece! World music !? Rare groove !? Frontier !? Kayo!? ……. Here is the roots of the great (Thai) popular music created by a man made up of poor people!

The best compilation album of Dao Bandon, a Luk Thung singer from Isan (Northeastern Thailand) who was most wanted to be released by world music fans and frontier rare groove DJs! Thai music is now attracting the attention of collectors all over the world as dance music. Dao Bandung's music, which is characterized by thick beats, killer breaks, and unique voices and tunes, had the appeal of being addicted to the ears once heard. But what was sung in Isan in the 70's? Why did Dao Bandung hit? Its charm remained a mystery. This time, we interviewed Dr. Dao Bandon directly and translated all the songs in Isan and Thai into parallel, and the astonishing facts are under the sun! The laughing and crying original scenery of the idyllic Isan is revealed, such as a song about the set from reggae-like Ga * ja tune, a love song in the world of blues, and so on.

In the 1980s, Mr. Dao produced singers familiar with world music such as Honey Sri-Isan and Jintara Poonlarp. This album is full of roots up to the present in the genre of Luk Thung, which is still extremely popular. There can be no Thai song without listening to this!

In this work, all lyrics are posted in three languages, Thai, Japanese and English. The commentary is posted in Japanese and English, and the annotations of Thai proper nouns are complete! A spirited specification that will be an indicator of future world releases!

David Dunn - Angels and Insects(天使と昆虫)30周年記念エディション (CD)Em Records
¥2,970
This is the 30th anniversary CD reissue of an amazing and all-encompassing album by American composer and sound artist David Dunn, highlighting two extremes of communication: the supernatural, celestial names of angels; and the natural, subaquatic world of pond insects. EM Records is currently researching the rather unexplored domains of what can be called cyber-occult music, with an emphasis on the hidden, the enigmatic, the arcane; this release can be located at a distant edge of this area of interest, in its use of technology to give us access to previously unheard communicative phenomena. Dunn’s interest in the broad contexts of communication finds links between macro and micro, heavenly and earthly, music and environmental sound. Dunn sees these pieces as a human effort to respect and perhaps comprehend the non-human universe. The angels of the title are based on Renaissance attempts, by occultists John Dee and Edward Kelly, to communicate with angelic beings. The insects are aquatic creatures, recorded with hydrophones in North American and African ponds. This special edition of “Angels and Insects” features the insightful original English liner notes (PDF) and a Japanese translation, with new cover art.
David Tudor, John Cage, Yuji Takahashi, Kenji Kobayashi - John Cage Shock Vol. 1 (CD)
David Tudor, John Cage, Yuji Takahashi, Kenji Kobayashi - John Cage Shock Vol. 1 (CD)Em Records
¥2,750

In October 1962 John Cage and his great interpreter/co-visionary David Tudor visited Japan, performing seven concerts and exposing listeners to new musical worlds. This legendary "John Cage Shock", as it was dubbed by the critic Hidekazu Yoshida, is the source of this series of releases, three CDs and a "best hits" double LP compilation. Recorded primarily at the Sogetsu Art Center in Tokyo on October 24, 1962 (with two performances from October 17 at Mido-Kaikan in Osaka), all recordings in this series are previously unreleased. A major historical trove, unearthed. The performances on this tour featured Cage and Tudor with some noteworthy Japanese musicians playing pieces by Cage and a number of other composers. Volume 1 begins with Toru Takemitsu's Corona for Pianists (1962), played by Tudor and Yuji Takahashi, an indeterminate piece scored using transparencies, a sign of Cage's influence on younger Japanese composers of the era. Following this is Duo for Violinist and Pianist (1961) by Christian Wolff, written specifically for David Tudor and violinist Kenji Kobayashi. The final piece, a near-twenty-minute realization of Variations II (1961), is a rare example of the rougher side of Cage, work that presaged much of the live electronic music and noise of the following decades, an aspect of his oeuvre which is woefully under-represented on CD. Cage and Tudor, using well-amplified contact microphones on a piano, deliver an electrifying performance, alternating distorted stretches of harsh 60s reality with bountiful silences. Volume 2 lifts off with a fiery example of Tudor's piano virtuosity, his mastery of dynamics well evident in a performance of Klavierstück X (1961) by Karlheinz Stockhausen. The titular shock of this series is delivered even more forcefully with the next piece, Cage's 26'55.988" for 2 Pianists and a String Player (1961), which was first performed the year before in Darmstadt by Tudor and Kobayashi, a combination of two of Cage's solo pieces. The performance here, from Osaka, has a slightly altered title and the composition becomes a seismic quartet with the addition of Toshi Ichiyanagi and Yoko Ono, with the four performers providing acutely-angled blasts of sound. The final CD of the series features Cage's 0'00" (1962), also referred to as 4'33" No.2, performed by the composer, with daily activities such as writing and drinking coffee amplified by contact microphones into sonic abstraction, following the score's directions: "with maximum amplification (no feedback), perform a disciplined action". Next is Composition II for 2 Pianos (1960/61) by Michael von Biel, lovely and sparse, performed by Tudor and Ichiyanagi. The disc closes with Ichiyanagi's Piano Music #7 (1961), performed also by Tudor and Ichiyanagi, beds of silence disrupted by pianistic stabs, music box madness, traffic recordings, percussive thumps, tape manipulations and more. The "John Cage Shock" series features truly historical recordings, all previously unreleased, of compositions by an amazing roster of international composers. The intensity of these performances by Cage, Tudor, Ichiyanagi, Kobayashi, Ono and Takahashi has remained hidden and unheard for half a century, but remains undiminished. These three CDs, as well as the special double LP (including a vinyl only bonus track), feature rare photos plus Japanese and English liner notes.

This brand-new twelve-inch EP mini album has its title inspired by "Space Is the Place", one of Sun Ra's most thematically outbound releases. Sun Ra's rocket-propelled vision is electronically diverted and re-channeled to unknowable and unnameable destinations in these 2016 recordings by German electronic/experimental producer Florian Meyer, aka Don't DJ, a member of the Durian Brothers and co-runner of the Diskant and SEXES labels. Channeling the Sun Ra Orchestra's sprawling Afro-futurist vitality, concentrating that energy through his own focus on evolving repetition, alien intervals and subtle variations of rhythm and timbre, Don't DJ heads for (no)places unknown. Get on board!

The latest work by Don't DJ, a German genius composer / producer. Techno Sun Ra? Underground YMO? Experimental ethnic electronics techno exo music with the theme of the hyperspace world.

Florian Meyer, who toured domestically with YPY, now explodes a foreign talent as a solo name Don't DJ, rather than a member of The Durian Brothers and Institut Für Feinmotorik. According to him, this work "has become a relatively easy-to-hear category for me." A double-sided mini-album with the theme of the hyperspace world, which seems to be named after Sun Ra's masterpiece "Space Is the Place" (1973), of that "Authentic Exoticism" (2016). A work that seems to be an evolved version. The title is not Date, but side A, which is a digital possession of the world of San La, and instead, side AA has a scale like Ethiopia or Indonesia. Expressed ethnic exo techno sound. It's still an experimental attempt, but his talent is the pop finish. A-2 is a collaboration with Derek Pyotr and enthusiasts should pay attention!

¥2,420
Finis Africae, a group without fixed members organized in Spain in the early 1980s by Huang Alberto Arteshe Guell, is a studio project that emphasizes work, especially "Amazonia" (1990) in the far north. It is a standing masterpiece. Inspired by Conan Doyle's adventure novel that he once read, Huang Alberto develops a soundscape that depicts the fantasy unexplored Amazon that circulates in his brain. In the late 80's, Arteshe upgraded his studio equipment to 16 tracks, and the technique he had tried on his two albums was complete. Manipulating many European and African instruments, overdubbing most of them alone, and combining the natural sounds of wind and rain, birds, insects and creatures, this "Amazonia" has a mysterious atmosphere and a mysterious sign. Expression. His unique organic groove feeling is also very comfortable, and it became a masterpiece worthy of its name (* note).

* "Africae" is an old name for "Africa" in Europe based on Latin, and adding "finis" creates nuances such as the farthest land and unknown places.

This time too, it's extremely rich !!! The second edition of the Spanish miracle Finis Africae by EM is an editing board that is organized in organic ambient with the famous song El Secreto De Las 12 at the top !!! Of course, it is highly recommended for new age lovers. !!!!

The second installment of Finis Africae is finally the appearance of the Anno song! A 6-track mini-album titled "El Secreto de las Doss (The Secret of Midnight)", a Balearic classic that has been played since the 1980s! There is no duplication of content with the previous work "A Last Discovery"! !!

"El Secreto" is a song from Finis Africae's 1st album released in 1984, by Jose Padilla, DJ of the cafe "Cafe del Mar (Sea Cafe)" in Ibiza, Balearis Islands. I fell in love with it and quickly defined it as a "chill-out" tune. It is a chill-out classic that has been recorded on mixtapes that he has been selling for a long time, and has been established as an organic groove classic beyond the ambient techno / house era.
It seems that only "El Secreto" is recognized in the DJ world, but Finis Africae is a unit that has crossed over various sounds independently with an experimental feeling since NEW WAVE (leader Huang Alberto). There are many songs that have the same impact as "El Secreto" (also famous for musical instrument nerds), and there are also fans who love the essence. In this album, Finis Africae's "Ambient" degree is deeply cut, and works comparable to "El Secreto" are compiled from the 1st / 2nd / 3rd album. There is no dance music, only deep listening is supported. The deepest part of Finis Africa, dense 32 minutes! (It is also an ant to play as ambient music)

The current three artists will challenge the difficult song "Gun Ho 1,2,3D", which is a masterpiece of New Zealand's legendary performance group From Scratch. This is a cover performance collection in which each person explores how to play with percussion as the common denominator (* not a remix collection). Everyone made it very hard. I look forward to working with you!

From Scratch is a development of a performance group organized by Phil Dudson, who learned from the far-left musician Cornelius Cardew, as the New Zealand branch of the Scratch Orchestra in the 1970s. They are known around the world for their combative custom instruments, and Ryuichi Sakamoto became a percussion instrument unit at a glance, and he visited Japan twice.

The work that can be said to be their true value is this difficult song "Gung Ho 1,2,3D", which features hocking in which the performers beat different beats individually, and the ultimate polyrhythm with accurate repetitive rhythm is a masterpiece. The sound is mechanical and inorganic in terms of characters, but the overtone-covered mundane sounds generated from the vinyl chloride tube and the slight error caused by human performance become organic components and create a mysterious ecstasy.

In this work, the original recording of 1981, which was performed in the most complicated 8,9,10 and 9,10,11 time signatures of "Gung Ho 1,2,3D", is the first, and the current three artists in Japan and abroad: Goat (M2) led by YPY Koshiro Hino / Don't DJ (M3), a German genius / Utena Kobayashi (M4), who is currently active in DAN, Tokumaru Shugo, etc. Contains a total of 4 works. All the performances are based on the score, but the interpretations of the four are completely different, and despite the fairly advanced performance, it has a pop appearance due to the repetitive rhythm.

¥3,740
The poetry of the human voice encounters the magic of contemporary electronic musical technology. Heart, mind and spirit, conveyed by the word, are augmented and altered, enhanced and embraced, by electronic sound. “Air from Air” is a collaboration between Japanese vocalist/producer Dove and American electronic duo Georgia. This singular partnership is a collection of audio poems in which words breathed by Dove are modified and expanded, cradled and celebrated, syllable by syllable and phrase by phrase. Georgia thoughtfully highlight Dove’s voice, transforming breath and air through the ether of circuitry, dismantling meaning, yet paradoxically revealing new meaning, both verbal and musical. Part of the magic here is that Japanese-speaking listeners will find clouds and constellations of meaning in these atmospheres, while those who do not understand Dove’s native language will nevertheless find pure pleasure in these same atmospheres. While some listeners may perceive it as a brand new extension of the attempts of contemporary music pioneers to explore the possibilities of human voice sound in sound art and electronic music, “Air from Air” will be rather a foray into the unexplored territory of new music, yet difficult to be named, extended into modern bass music and other fields. Available on LP and DL. Vinyl edition disc is made of environmentally friendly new material BioVinyl. Cover art by Sakura Kondo.

This is the long-awaited, first-ever vinyl release from the Osaka-based band goat. The five tracks are compiled from their debut album “New Games” (2013) and their second album “Rhythm & Sound” (2015). The titles of those releases provide a hint: a sense of joyful play within defined structures, and an emphasis on propulsive pulse and a prioritizing of pure percussive sound over melodic content. With guitar, bass, drums and saxophone, goat create music which is unlike most rock bands, utilizing harmonics outside standard tonality, as well as clever muting, to craft intricate, driven, forceful compositions by Koshiro Hino, aka YPY. goat is currently going through a period of new development and further exploration of intertwining patterns of rhythmic repetition; this compilation is the bedrock. Superbly recorded and mixed by Bunsho Nishikawa, mastered and cut by Rashad Becker, cover art by Tomoo Gokita, this release will be a revelation for your turntable.

"Minami-kaze α Wave (Southerly wind alpha wave)“ is a very rare ‘vocal piece’ that Henry Kawahara has produced, and released under the name HMD (H Music Deperception) in 1993. The song is a vocal version of the cyber-occult exotic instrumental piece "Nanpu“ included in the compilation “Cybernetic Defiance and Orgasm: The Essential Henry Kawahara” [EM1197TCD/DLP]. This track is a rare example that proves he had also a genius for producing ‘pops’ in the general sense of the word, and which seems to have challenged head-on the pop songs produced by Haruomi Hosono or Tetsuya Komuro in the 80s-90s.

The Henry Kawahara project on EM Records was developed only with the enthusiasm of proving Kawahara's existence if he is to be erased as nothing in the current art context, and we have confirmed that there are a lot of supporters all over the world for our opinion when we released "Cybernetic Defiance and Orgasm" (several articles and interviews have been given). This single is a 'prescription' for the sequel, tentatively titled "Cybernetic Defiance and Orgasm 2: Other Sides of Henry Kawahara," which is currently in the process of being prepared. This 7” is a limited one-off release, not included in the compilation.

A mysterious board (dare to say Hawaiian Electronic / New Age?) Produced independently in 1975 by Japanese Hawaiian musician and playwright Frank Tavares, which seems to make the genre setting malfunction. The only instrument used is the synthesizer. I tried to reconstruct the land of Hawaii with sounds by superimposing human voices and field sounds, inserting Hawaiian folk songs and my own drama works, and champuruing Hawaiian, English, Japanese, and Filipino. With the help of too unique developments and electronic sounds, we invite us to a different world that seems to be stoned. It is also said to be the first Hawaiian music to make all of the tracks with synthesizers (Is there any other Hawaiian folk song that approached from electronic music in the first place?).

This time, one of the diva who caused the boom of Mor lam new generation idols in the 70's, Hong Thong Da Oudong, is the best selection for the first appearance outside Thailand. The definitive edition with sound source recording, commentary and translated poems that have not been made into a CD even in Thailand!

Beloved for her petite, baby-faced, and pretty personality, Hong Thong has been active in the middle of the two major genres of Morlam (* 1) and Luk Thung (* 2), and has become a model for next-generation singers since the 1980s. On the other hand, it is a mysterious diva who suddenly retired at the height of popularity.

Her music was known to fans as an early masterpiece of big-name producer Doi Inthanon, and she presented a challenging work in this combination. In this album, her true (really sweaty) wide repertoire with Morlam / Luk Thung on her crotch is extracted by the reliable Soi48 song selection, and its charm is conveyed in an easy-to-understand manner.

From upper tunes such as the bizarre blockbuster "Bump Lam Phloen" that incorporates disco into mor lam, her representative song "Hongthong Khanong Lam", Luk Thung disco, a phantom self-produced single (the best content), and that "apple" Also includes a beautiful cover of "Oiwake". Another highlight is Soi48's commentary, which is based on a direct interview with Hong Tone, revealing an unknown story. Come and experience what Hontone was the new wave of Thai music!

What have we here? 16 pieces of hard-to-classify music, created during the period 1994-2008, a cornucopia of playful, intelligent, questing and eminently listenable electronic music from Osaka-born artist Hyu, who released two albums on Nobukazu Takemura’s Childisc label, in 1999 and 2002. Although a member of the turn-of-the-century generation of artists subsumed under the rather vague term “electronica”, his work stands apart in many ways, particularly in his unique exploration of microtonality, his ability to humanize music technology, and his distinctive trait of combining a light touch and sense of fun with conceptual rigor. This collection is an intriguing mix of previously unreleased tracks and re-edited versions of previously released pieces. There is a wide range of music here, many of the pieces truly unique: wiggy and wiggly robo-pop, fractured funk, swinging sample assemblages of subtle sensory overload, dynamo-drones, overtone explorations. All of it distinctive, much of it prescient, all of it rising above the strictures of genre. Hyu’s music is appealing and fun, but driven by a desire to not only create music, but to create ways of creating music. This desire, this quest, is clearly audible in all of these tracks, and in the overall excellence of his music. Available on CD or 2LP with DL. The 2LP features a bonus cover of “Kaze wo atsumete” by Happy End. A notable feature is the entertaining and enlightening notes, written by Hyu himself.

Around 1967, mysterious music began to play in my head, and I heard that I began to listen to it naturally. The beautiful music that emerges from within him uplifted, healed and exhilarated his spirit. He called it "paradise music", referring to this type of music that he had never heard before. (From the commentary) -Yassos, who was born in Greece and raised in the United States, began to feel the light called Vista (the existence of light near the forehead), and from the records of communication and telepathy with them, human beings. I created a musical piece to help lead to the next stage. This album, which is the 1st album of 1975, makes you feel free, profound, spiritual, and even beyond the galaxy, so that the image of the word New Age (80's etc.) changes 180 degrees. It's a magnificent and very visual album. A truly true spiritual mix of electronically modulated flutes and steel guitars, spacey electric pianos, and natural sounds such as waves and animal calls, taking you to an unmeasurable world.・ The monumental tower of cosmic music. Close your eyes and keep listening deeply. You will have access to new visions and locations.

A fusion of Asian pop and alternative rock!?! The first physical version of the US / Korean / Cambodia mixed Lo-Fi / DIY loose fluffy pop, G.G. Band, which I would definitely recommend to fans of Feeding Tube! (English version commentary is done by Dr. Byron Coley of Feeding Tube)

G.G.Band is a band formed in Busan in 2013 by Massachusetts-born painter Matt Jones and Busan-born Ji Yun Lim, and has a fluid organization with no fixed members. The songs on this first physical album, "Glass Fish," were produced in different environments and locations, including the iPhone, bedroom, studio, and the faces of Sebadoh's Bob Fay and Yod Tapes. Massachusetts network such as John Moloney. "Speaking of Massachusetts, we are the sacred site of Indie / Low Phi, along with Olympia, the location of K Records" (from the commentary). The DIY indie soul that dwells in them jumps out of the North American region, swallows East Asian culture, powers up even more crap, and supplies a state-of-the-art fluffy feeling of weakness.
