Tokyo-based artist Will Long—well known for his acclaimed ambient works under the name Celer and his best-selling Long Trax series on Meditations—returns with a remix cut EP from his 2024 album Acid Trax, featuring none other than DJ Sprinkles a.k.a. Terre Thaemlitz, the iconic figure of artistic deep house explorations. Side A delivers a hypnotic, minimalist acid track running over 11 minutes, evoking the spirit of Phuture and early Plastikman, with razor-sharp 909 rhythms and acid-laced 303 lines. On the flip, DJ Sprinkles brings their unmistakable touch to the remix, sculpting a deeply immersive experience with intelligent arrangement and emotional depth—deep house at its most refined. A sublime slice of after-hours introspection and floor-ready elegance.

The incessant brain bogglers zig-zag back to Diagonal with the nerve-gnawing acid pointillism of Right Frankfurt after a series of purple-themed 12”s with iDEAL and Hypermedium and the zinging Do These sessions with F.C.O.U. and Presto!?

Equivalent to an intravenous dose of acidic synthesis, Right Frankfurt nods to one of techno’s most efficient power centres with a PCP-on-Modafinil-strength reduction and concentration of early industrial techno tropes shorn of their skull-cracking beats and left to babble in an utterly alien coda.

It does so for 25 unrelenting minutes, which, if you asked my mum, all sounds the same. But, if you’ve ever appreciated the lissom fluidity of a strong acid or synth lead in the dance, you will notice and no doubt relish the piece’s tumultuous, microtonal variation, see-sawing up/down and around the frequency scale in highly visual knots that are perhaps best experienced in synch with the strobes of their live show.

We recently witnessed EVOL scare the bejesus into Berghain with this stuff, to the extent that there’s now a small cargo cult like gathering on the wastelands next door to the club who can do nowt but worship a discarded acid smiley keyring and speak in 303 tongues whilst cowering at the sight of Easyjets overhead.

‘Dimension Intrusion’ was the first full-length studio album by Richie Hawtin, who was 22 years old at the time and living in Windsor, Canada. It was first released in June 1993 under the F.U.S.E. name on Hawtin’s own Plus 8 Records imprint and again as the second release of Warp Records seminal ‘Artificial Intelligence’ series. 

The album compiled previously released F.U.S.E. EPs from Plus 8 complemented with new music specially recorded for this release. It would be a fundamental album for the young producer, who was experimenting with different themes and techniques to find his very own sound. Largely inspired by sci-fi movies he used a collection of synthesizers and drum machines, playing with their electronic yet warm sound effects and in turn discovering some of his favorite instruments. 

The tracks on ‘Dimension Intrusion’ range from club focused techno to soundtrack ambience and can be seen retrospectively as experiments leading to what would soon become Hawtin’s trademark acid laced Plastikman sound. 

It was on this album that he first collaborated with his brother, Matthew Hawtin, presenting an original painting completed in 1992 as the album artwork. In fact the album title was derived from this painting’s title ‘Dimension Intrusion’, demonstrating the reciprocal inspiration shared between the brothers. The acrylic painting oscillates between the one and two-dimensional. The composition of geometrical beams in bold primary colors and sharp lines evokes electrically charged movement and progression in and out of different dimensions. The visual tension corresponds with the energetic rhythms of the music, furthermore, the abstract painting and techno music share machine-like precision whilst producing a sensual and emotionally triggering experience. 

Dimension Intrusion’ is an iconic album in the history of electronic music that sets Richie Hawtin on a path of exploration and interest in the connection of audio and visual expression. 

The long-awaited DJ Sprinkles reworkings of Will Long’s Acid Trax finally arrive on vinyl, beginning with this first instalment in a three-part EP series via Comatonse. Mastered by Terre Thaemlitz and cut by Rashad Becker, EP 1 features DJ Sprinkles’ ‘Acid Dog’ remix – a resoundingly trippy, sensual 11-minute journey of padded subs, shimmering percussion and richly layered 303 tones. One of the most immersive entries in the Sprinkles catalogue, it’s club music with both emotional depth and hypnotic power.

On the flip, Long’s original takes a more minimal approach, delivering a meditative groove that floats raw drum machine rhythms and restrained 303 sequences in wide-open space. Both tracks embrace the ascetic, introspective aesthetics that define this project.

Susumu Yokota’s glyding mid ‘90s acid works for Dr. Motte and co’s Space Teddy revived for a 30 year anniversary reissue with Transmigration, dovetailing their interests in early Goan dance and ‘90s trance with this double album set of lush, SAW-like bubblers.

Replete with liner notes by top flight ‘90s trance producer Mijk Van Dijk, the ‘Space Teddy Collection’ scans a seam of Susumu Yokota’s work circa his albums for Harthouse and the legendary ‘Acid Mt. Fuji’ for Sublime. This posthumous retrospective hails his purest acid works, inflected with the rhythmelodic lilt and aerodynamic elegance that distinguished Yokota’s work from his contemporary milieu. Sifted from two albums, ‘Zen’ (1994) and ‘ten’ (1996), the nine cuts are all characterised by a pursuit of hypnotic club sensuality, and scale between FM feathered ambient acid house and more urgent acid trance. 

Beginning slow and spacious with the resonant 303 tweaks and wide open pads of ‘Sou’, the set toggles the intensity of Susumu’s Ebi output between the lip-smacking upness of ‘San’ to the sand-trample triplet wiggle of ‘Tsuru’ and proper yoghurt-weaver tackle in ‘Hi’. At the set’s core he takes the longview with the near 9 minute slow mo drug chug of ‘Zen’ and the Plastikman-esque ambient acid crawler ‘Chuu’, saving the beatific bliss of ‘Kaze’ and ‘Tsuki’ to play out on the back of fluttering eyelids.

DOVS are the duo of Vienna’s Johannes Auvinen, aka Tin Man, and Mexico City’s Gabo Barranco, aka AAAA. Psychic Geography is their second album together, but it differs considerably from both their respective solo work and their 2019 debut LP together, Silent Cities: Where that album’s hardware-based acid kept its gaze focused squarely on the dancefloor, Psychic Geography is a strictly ambient affair.

The album has its roots in a trio of beatless tracks that peppered Silent Cities; this time, the duo decided to try making an entire album with no drums. “It opened up the chance to make a different, more narrative style of music with more complex structures,” Auvinen says. Ambiguity and uncertainty are key watchwords for their music, which moves with eerie, liquid grace. Untethered from 4/4 kicks, their music drifts and morphs; familiar acid sequences give way to surprising shifts in tone and mood. And with no drums to distract the ear, the seeming simplicity of their silvery synth lines opens up to reveal remarkable depth and dynamism.

Barranco and Auvinen recorded the album together in the studio utilizing machines like the Roland TB-303, Juno G, Prophet 5, Elektron Octatrack MKII, Make Noise DPO and René, Mutable Clouds, Roland SH-101, Behringer TD3, and Sherman Filterbank. Listen on good speakers or headphones, and you can tell: Their gear yields a tonal richness that recalls the ambient and cosmic music of decades earlier. You can practically feel the heat from their circuits warming the air.

The meaning behind the name DOVS is as ambiguous as the duo’s music. (Dig, if you will, the picture of Picasso’s dove of peace—or, perhaps, the outline of a bird pressed into a small white pill.) But Psychic Geography needs little explanation. DOVS’ album is a collection of mental maps of imaginary places. Set your coordinates for the mirage on the horizon and prepare to dissolve. 

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Plastikman, aka Richie Hawtin, has remastered his groundbreaking second album, Musik, from the original tapes for a new limited bio-vinyl edition. The record was first released in November 1994 through NovaMute and Plus 8, following the debut Plastikman album, Sheet One (1993). A masterclass in minimal techno, Musik quickly propelled Hawtin to new levels of success. The release followed Plastikman’s first-ever live performance in a black vinyl-encased room at a semi-derelict Packard Plant in Detroit, where Hawtin was central to the burgeoning underground scene. Before the full album hit the shelves, the track "Plastique" (which was later described by Q as “...the flipside to Hawtin’s early singles, all ticking percussion, feline acid tweaks, and cushioned sub-bass”) set the stage for a more dance floor-friendly album, albeit one with an unsettling and sinister side. The album, described by The Guardian as “music as you've never heard it before” and by The Wire, who made it one of their Albums of the Year, as “... a masterpiece”, defined a moment in techno that still echoes today. Now, 30 years later, the album has been remastered from the original tapes, reminding us why Plastikman is a name that still resonates and that the album’s intensity – on and off the dance floor – has lost none of its potency in the intervening years.

Long before becoming the global techno mastermind that he is today, alongside his F.U.S.E. alias for Warp's recently reissued Artificial Intelligence series, Richie Hawtin was also best known for his Plastikman project, amassing a huge, era-defining body of work. Now an undisputed classic Sheet One was the first Plastikman album to surface, originally released in 1993 and now resurfacing as ever on Mute's own electronic and dancefloor focused subsidiary, NovaMute for a much needed 30th anniversary remastered reissue. The album makes fine use of prominent Roland 303, a staple on the acid house scene, and utilised in exemplary fashion alongside laser-cut minimalist structures and driving echo-box acid lines. Long before Richie Hawtin became the global techno mastermind that he is today, he was best known for his Plastikman project initially defined by debut album and now undisputed class Sheet One.

Acoustic Rhythm & Texture Sequencer Available as C60 Limited Edition of 50 mirror dubs- (same on both sides) + Inserts written and produced by S.Gordon 2024. additional percussion by Islay Spalding - TRK 7, recorded at SFS studios 2024 Synths & Radial - SDGordon. The Radial instrument was designed to explore various material's acoustic characteristics in ways that could only be achieved through mechanical and electronic control. It creates sporadic dense percussive sequences & sharp reciprocating sweeps or can focus in on tiny acute angles to produce deep shaking drones among a host of other planned and unplanned acoustic sounds. Radial uses 5 voltage controlled motors and interchangeable textured cylinders captured via contact microphones positioned within the chassis. The cylinders can be synchronised or independent & the blades are interchangeable allowing the flex of certain materials to skew and augment the movements and sounds and sequences. Playing the Radial instrument is a direct visceral experience. Its sequences sound unlike anything else i have used and the simple design by no means limits the scope of its rhythmical output. After feeling out the controls you arrive somewhere in-between the rubbery juddering fuzz or clockwork blasts of percussion and can step back allowing the physicality of the instrument itself to dictate how things proceed. Minor adjustments can have a butterfly effect on the entire tone inmate rewardingly unpredictable but controllable way. On certain tracks there’s some synth work in a move away from the potential “instrument study” vibe of the release and Islay Spaldings blistering scrap metal percussion on Track 7 was incredible to watch.. Madteo is next for Accidental Meeting’s mixtape series, recorded live at an AM party at Spanners, London. NY drenched house oddities and disco curveballs, all served up raw, rough & ready in Madteo’s trademark style.

Blinding double pack of heavily old school influenced bleep, direct from the depths of England by prolific young producer, Tom Carruthers. These are heavily sample based mpc productions that harken to the carefree days when the pills were pure and the music was fresh and never stopped. When house was techno and techno was house, this long player takes the best elements from say Chill Records, early-Warp and the best Nu-Groove creating timeless dance tracks made for the warehouse dj. Essential stuff here.

Strong debut album by one of China’s most distinctive new industrial/dance music producers, Tzusing, for L.I.E.S.; portraying the Shanghai-based artist’s full breadth of kinky darkroom rhythms and sleazy cinematic arrangements. Under the title 東方不敗, meaning Invincible East, the record wraps an armoury of powerful percussion and native instrumentation around a narrative locus based on a swordsman character in a Jin Yong novel “who must make the ultimate sacrifice to attain knowledge and transform”. Coupled with the artist’s own observations on living in, and travelling around, Asia, it’s an urgent and gripping listen with a versatility and varied topography lending itself to DJ use and soundtracking industrial subterfuge alike. 日出東方 唯我不敗 starts out like ’05 sino grime or dubstep from a parallel dimension; Digital Properties trades in secretive choral code at a killer New Beta momentum which decelerates into the the wind-tunnel chug and pealing cyber-tribal chant of Esther. His signature triplets last heard on A Name Out Of Place wickedly come into play against sheer electric blue synth tone in King Of Hosts; we’re put thru an intense, Americanised club drill in Post-Soviet Models; and Torque Pulsations both literally and physically lives up to its name with a belly and spine-twysting EBM tattoo. TIP!

Modern Love’s 7” series returns with a 45 special from Chicago’s Sun God, delivering a pair of chrome-burn acid jak and cosmic house tear-outs fired to spangle the dance. Screwed, exceptional music for the club. A follow-up to Jamal’s album ‘Thanks 4 The Tracks U Lost’ (Modern Love, 2022), this rare 7” outing hails the Chi house don at his mind-bending best, plotting coordinates for the outer limits of club music whilst firmly tethered to its fundamentals. Never one to follow the grid, Jamal makes the template his own with a hands-on approach that translates decades of experience - from dancing to Ron Hardy in the ‘80s, being an apprentice of sorts to Adonis in the ‘90s, and then thru countless performances and almost innumerable releases ever since - into uniquely transcendent shapes. Coming on like Sun Ra strapped with a 303, ’It Is My Fault, My Fault Alone’ yields the chewiest acid and spitting, hot oil rhythms articulated with the sort of fervour and psychosexual thrust that underlines all of Jamal’s best work, and here emphatically brought to to the boil via a maze of knotted drums and frayed synths that join dots between Prince and Armando in an effortlessly asymmetric style. The B-side ‘Be Fearless In The Pursuit Of What Sets Ur Soul On Fire’ only ramps the pressure with a frenetic arrangement anchored to a modulated kick and synced to psychedelic synths that roll with seemingly endless momentum. At the risk of sounding like yoghurt-weaving rave casualties; Jamal is once again utterly attuned to the type of cosmic frequencies and aerobic mystic needs that have been lost in translation by successive waves of dry-ass posers and dancers who don’t like to get their kicks dirty. And for that, we eternally salute him.

Acid Test repress the very first Acid Test 12”, a now-renowned outing by Vienna’s Tin Man aka Johannes Auvinen. ACIDTEST01.1 the repress serves up the original “Nonneo” alongside a new 2024 rework of “Mystified Acid” on the A side, while the B-side sees the revered hypnotic “Nonneo” remix by Italian techno master Donato Dozzy, rounded off by long-time favourite “Love Sex Acid” from Tin Man’s Acid Acid album. It’s a sweetly balanced package of vintage Tin Man vibes, always searching for the heart in the machine.

Lipelis makes a welcome return to L.I.E.S. with his TMO project and lines up a huge release with this four track ep, housed in a killer picture sleeve. Massive anthem alerts here as Lipelis teams up with keyboardist Eugene Piankov with epic results. From the absolutely soaring and melodic 303+909 driven opener, to the pensive mid tempo "Bright Jam" Everything comes to a head with the B1. cut that is a huge piano house anthem, this will save the party or bring it to the next level... solos, chord progressions, 303's, phased claps....everything going exactly how it should be...clean as a whistle, rockin the floor like mad. Absolutely recommended for connoisseurs of real dance music.

Unearthed Essentials pays honourable homage to classics over six tracks....names like Boyd Jarvis, Marcus Mixx, Gherkin, and Nick Nonstop all popping up on this one. 'Italian house music maestro Fabio Monesi delivers a smoking 8 tracks double LP of old school bombs for @L.I.E.S. Records You'd be forgiven for thinking these were produced in the '80s as all the classic and authentic elements are intact; catchy Yamaha DX basslines, crunchy TR-707 and Juno strings. Eight cuts all primed for the disco tech and nights of pure hedonism. These tracks go right back to the essence, hitting the full spectrum with stripped back classic New York and Chicago House cuts that wouldn't seem out of place in a BMX or WBLS mix from back in the day. Catchy dx basslines, slammin reverb drenched drum programming, and deep strings are on order for this one. The vision for this compilation album was to create a collection of tracks that complement each other and are fitting for repeated home listening.   
  
Being somewhat of a conceptual experiment. All the artists on the album were asked to imagine fusing Acid and House with the Virtualsex LP which was released on Buzz in 1993. A 303 sound would be welcomed but not essential with an emphasis on soulful emotion and melody.

A1) Postelektrik - SW1  
Niall Minogue is fast becoming Chicago Bee’s jewel in the crown with his vintage sounding euphoric pads and tones. This is his third outing on Chicago Bee and one to watch. Check out: So We Thought We Knew Technology EP on Chicago Bee. 
  
A2) Derek Carr - No Surrender  
Derek Carr needs little introducing. Based in Ireland, Derek is responsible for releasing some of the best produced techno around today and has a musical output spanning over 20 years. B1) Type 303 - Stairway to Jupiter 
Another overseas artist, this time from Finland. Dan Kaipio has become a versatile and prolific artist over recent years and this is his second appearance on Chicago Bee. With EP releases on the popular I Love Acid and Downfall Recordings labels to his name, he’s no mug. He nails a vintage acid sound. Check out: Sysi EP on Super Rhythm Trax.  

B2) Monofonix - Omega  
Craig Stainton is better known for his acid productions under the name Mantra and has notched up an impressive back catalogue including releases on Weapons of Desire. He opted to submit a Monofonix track which had fallen under the radar somewhat. We felt it well deserved more exposure and it fits the brief perfectly. Super chuffed to have him on Chicago Bee for the first time. Check out the album: Thirteen Circles on Cataclyst its proper chilled.    

B3) Ivan Golac - Floated 
The mysterious and elusive Ivan Golac is a cover name for an artist who wants to be kept anonymous. Its Their second time on Chicago Bee. Their music has been likened to Liddell Townsell. Check out: The Powers That Be EP on Chicago Bee.  
  
C1) Iron Blu - Valtra  
Mick Clark’s debut was a solo synthesiser album released in Germany. He then relocated to London and joined the British band Naked Lunch formed in 1979. The band were one of the UKs first ever synth-based bands and are highly acclaimed.  
Spin forward 40 odd years and he’s DJing and producing electro / acid and co running the Label Weapons of Desire. Basically, what a legend!

C2) Fear-E - Haven’t You Heard  
Scott McKay is another big hitter from the UK acid scene and this time from north of the border in Glasgow. Very pleased to have him on Chicago Bee for the first time. He’s well known for his work on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. Check out: Made in the G60 EP on Super Rhythm Tracks, the opening track is a monster of a tune!  

C3) Forgotten Corner , Maen Land
Cornwall based Nick Mackrory and Phil Banks like to produce and play there acid deep and slow. Nick has a diverse
production background including library music releases on KPM with Seahawks. Phil , a keen vinyl spinner, can boast to have played at the I Love Acid club night. Together they make a great team. Very chuffed to get them on board for the first time.

D1) iNFO - Dreams of Andromeda  
Sheffield based Michael Robinson is heavily influenced by early Detroit and UK techno.  
His music has slick production and is full of lush pads and strings, so perfect for this album. Another very welcomed first timer on Chicago Bee.

D2) A-Eno-Acid - Greek Town Casino  
Apart from his acid outings on Chicago Bee, label owner Mark Churcher is also known for his abstract techno, dub - electronica and ambient on the mid 1990s label Emote. He’s also in a sound art band called Electronic Sound Pictures. Check out the band V- Neck and the Liquid Lunch EP by Send/Return on Emote.
