□ Outline of work
Founded in 1978 by Yuzuru Agi, the editor of Rock Magazine, a new band that has been active with values since punk, an alternative approach of musicians who have gone through band activities, electronic music and industrial music as the cutting edge of the times. Vanity Records, which captures the cutting-edge music trends of the same era such as music from several aspects, is said to be one of Japan's first independent labels, and is independent of Japan in the late 70's and early 80's. It is an indispensable and important part of talking about the production / indie music scene.
This work "Vanity Box I" is the LP released in 1980 from the catalog of Vanity Records, RNAORGANISM "RNAO Meets POPO", BGM "Back Ground Music", SYMPATHY NERVOUS "Sympathy Nervous", and also in 1980. A box set of 5 CDs that summarizes "VANITY 7" singles "that summarizes the released 7-inch 3 works, and SAB" Crystallization "of LP released in 1979.
RNAORGANISM, known as the first group produced by Kaoru Sato of EP-4, BGM by Takayuki Shiraishi, who was a 17-year-old high school student at the time, and SYMPATHY NERVOUS by Yoshifumi Niinuma, who makes full use of his own computer system named "UCG". In these LP works released in 1980, the post-punk vision that sublimated the influence of dub and funk and the elements of electronic music compete with each other in different balances. "VANITY 7" singles "contains songs by SYMPATHY NERVOUS, MAD TEA PARTY, and PERFECT MOTHER, which share the common denominator of voice and electronics, and the pop finish stands out even during the release of Vanity Records.
The only release in 1979, SAB "Crystallization" has a musicality such as a cosmic ambient mix that effectively arranges oriental motifs / sounds, such as the current New Age Revival and rediscovery of Japanese ambient music. It is one of the most interesting works in the trend. Shuta Hiraki
