Description
□ Outline of work
A compilation of the demo sound sources of the time newly provided by 3 artists (SALARIED MAN CLUB, ONNYK: Anode / Cathode, DEN SEI KWAN) recorded in "Music" and "Tapes" (noise box).
These sound sources were produced around 1981, and are valuable sound sources that reflect the scene of "INDUSTRIAL MYSTERY MUSIC" that Vanity Records at that time set out as the sound of a new era.
The four songs of SALARIED MAN CLUB have an impressive style of monotone sound arrangement and the anonymous world view created by it, which is similar to the single cassette work "GRAY CROSS" released from Vanity, but the first and fourth songs are more desolate. The soundscape is drawn, and the rhythm is emphasized in the 2nd and 3rd songs.
The sound source of ONNYK, Yoshiaki Kanano, who participated in the compilation "Music" from Vanity as Anode / Cathode, impresses with the performance of soprano saxophone, which swims freely over the mechanical loops of electronics and drum machines. .. It is clear that he had a remarkable high level of instrumental improvisation technique among the musicians involved in Vanity at this time, as he played with Evan Parker in 1982, but the songs included in this work are It is a valuable thing that you can feel it with sound. At the same time, this is a sign of progress in a different direction from industrial mystical music, and his music did not lead to solo releases from Vanity, but to his own activities such as the establishment of the label Allelopathy. It's a nod to go.
DEN SEI KWAN offers only the last song. In 1979 or 1980, the Irish folk song of Cornelius Cardew's piano piece "Four Principles on Ireland and Other Works" is drowned out by the noise-drone sound that circulates in space. Shuta Hiraki
