Inspired by the birth of his child, the album imagines the development of a fetus through low-end electronics, pulsing rhythms and enclosed, womb-like sonics. Real-life recordings are worked into the music: ‘Umbilical Chant’ incorporates the sound of the baby’s umbilical cord, while ‘Bye Placenta’ captures its first cry alongside pinging synths, polyrhythmic percussion and organ-like figures.
