Emerging from the burgeoning beat music scene of the mid-2000s in Los Angeles, Flying Lotus has created an era with a new sound that fuses jazz, hip-hop and electronic music. He runs his own music label, Brainfeeder, and has produced superstars such as Thundercat and Kamasi Washington, and has worked with Kendrick Lamar, the late Mac Miller, and Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, to bring his cutting-edge sound into the mainstream. In the meantime, he has been pushing his unique aesthetic into the mainstream. At the same time, he continues to inspire music and culture fans with his aesthetic music videos and visual projects such as the ultra-experimental horror-comedy film "KUSO. Flying Lotus will be releasing the music for the Netflix original anime series "Yasuke" as a single work. Originally conceived, produced, and directed by Rashon Thomas, the animation is produced by MAPPA, which has received high praise both in Japan and abroad for its work on "Dorohedoro," "Megumi no Kyojin: The Final Season," and "Jujutsu Kaisen," and the character designs are by Takeshi Koike ("LUPIN the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine"). (LUPIN the Third: A Woman Called Fujiko Mine) is in charge of character design. With the exception of a few songs such as "Black Gold feat. Thundercat" and "Between Memories feat. Niki Randa," which were released earlier, most of the songs on the "YASUKE" album are instrumental. Thundercat not only provided vocals for the opening theme, but also showed off his outstanding bass playing throughout. One of the main factors that characterize this album is the hybrid drum patterns that mix traditional Japanese percussion instruments such as taiko and clappers with African percussion instruments such as djembe, as if to represent the life of Yasuke, an African-Japanese who lived in the Warring States period. The beat production and structure of this album reminds me of the early styles of "Reset EP", "Los Angeles" and "Cosmogramma". He also revealed that J. Dilla was an influence in his approach, adding a unique atmosphere created by synthesizers. This time, the LP on red vinyl.
